June 27, 2020 Lake Gogebic report has been fair. Anglers working rocks and hard bottom with leeches are taking both smallmouth and walleye. Trollers running boards with stick baits and crawlers have seen a few nice fish over the mud in 19ft. to 24ft. with fair success. Some perch have also been taken scattered out in the mud flats as weed growth seems to be coming in slowly. Some areas are seeing weeds popping quickly while other areas seem slow to start. Mayflies have also begun to hatch. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

June 12, 2020 Lake Gogebic fishing has been up and down daily as severe weather swings and heavy rain moved thru. It is on the upswing once again as anglers work upcoming weed growth using crawlers and leeches with good reports on both walleye and smallmouth. Others are working the mud flats with crawler harnesses for walleye using bottom bouncers and also suspended fish over the main lake basin. Heavy rain has water levels extremely high so watch for floating debris. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

June 04, 2020 Lake Gogebic report overall has slowed up after the cold front passed thru Fishing has slowly picked up since with more seasonal temps. Jig and minnow combos and leeches fished over hard bottom areas have been the norm as weed growth has been slow to start. Some of the best reports have been anglers trolling boards over the main lake basin using crawlers. A few perch have started to come in as well, but not many. Best of luck! May 29, 2020 Lake Gogebic fishing has been on the up swing this past week. The walleye bite has improved greatly with anglers working jig and minnow combos in 6ft. to 10ft. depths during low light conditions catching lots of fish but most are small. Anglers working 21ft. to 28ft. are reporting some nice sized eyes. Warm temps have also turned on the smallmouth action with some impressive fish. No reports on perch action yet. Best of luck! May 16, 2020 Lake Gogebic opener has seen mixed results with anglers reports. Some not doing so well locating fish while others are doing well! Looks like fish are not done spawning yet and males are still milking. Some good reports from shallow areas 6ft. to 12ft with others doing well in 17ft. to 20ft. depths. Mostly a jig and a minnow bite with anglers reporting leeches as the best for them. Water temps around 46 degrees is a good indicator fish may still be near spawning areas. Best of luck! April 30, 2020 Lake Gogebic is looking more like spring. Main lake ice has gone out with exception of some floating ice sections in some areas. The Walleye opener on May 15th is looking promising. Stay Safe From Barry “Bear”Drews, NinePines Resort ,www.ninepinesresort.com
April 8, 2020 Lake Gogebic update. Late ice perch fishing ended on a slow note with all the travel restrictions in place not much activity was no surprise. The lake is locked up pretty tight yet but NOT safe for travel. The snow melt has been slow and some areas are opening up near shore. Will update when the ice goes out. We are all looking forward to the Walleye opener on May 15th. Everyone stay safe. From Barry “Bear” Drews, Nine Pines Resort , www.ninepinesresport.com
March 12, 2020 Lake report has been up and down recently. with both good and poor reports from day to day from mainly perch anglers. Working the using wigglers in 24ft. to 29ft. depths some has had fair success while others are marking fish but struggling to get a bite. Lake conditions have been fair overall, but changing daily with warm temps or rain causing the surface to be soft by the end of the day, but with temps in the teens at night, travel been good in the morning most days. Ice reports are about a foot and a half of that being white ice. Reminder that walleye season closes Sunday March 15th. From Barry “Bear” Drews Nine Pines, www.ninepines.com
