Current Board Meeting Minutes
(At each board meeting the minutes from the last months meeting are read over, any corrections made if necessary, and then approved. At this point the minutes will then be updated on this page of the Chamber’s website.)
LAKE GOGEBIC AREA CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE In attendance: Barry Drews, Dick Armstrong, Ron Searles, Dale Kuivanen Cindy Tessemer, Tom McCarthy, Mary Lou Driesenga and Tom Chase. Barry Drews called the meeting to order. Minutes of the December Board of Directors meeting were reviewed. Dick Armstrong motioned to accept the minutes. Dale Kuivanen seconded the motion. All were in favor. November Treasurer’s Report was reviewed. Ron Searles made a motion to accept the report. Dale Kuivanen seconded the motion. All were in favor. Membership/Networking & Multi-Use Trails: Tom Chase 1. Ontonagon Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Superior Days event in July that LGACC may possibly be involved with. Mary Lou will check with Vicky James (president). 2. In a conversation Tom had with Senator Purrsi, he expressed interest in attending a chamber meeting. 3. Cindy Tessemer will work with Tom drafting a letter for private land owners in regards to Multi-Use trail easements. Marketing/Activities: Barry Drews & Dale Kuivanen 1. Fun Run 2008: ~Two 3’X10’ banners (SLEDFESTER’S VISIT LAKE GOGEBIC AREA) were donated by Pepsi. ~28 businesses participated and all but 5 had visitors, however, they may have had visitors that did not complete the run. ~20 completed forms ~214 stamped businesses ~Chamber received positive response from businesses ~The $300 winner was Renee Woodford from Champlin MN 2. Registration forms for Spring and Fall chamber sponsored fishing touraments will be mailed together again this year and Evergreen Shopper will bulk mail them. 3. Milwaukee Sport Show, March 12-16. Bob & Carol D’Alberto have volunteered to man the chamber booth. 4. Cindy Tessemer will check on the possibility of have a booth at Loon Days in Mercer this summer. 5. Mary Lou will check zip codes of all leads that come to chamber and from UPTRA. 6. Fish mount displays have been brought to the ski hills (advertising Lake Gogebic) by Tom Chase. Communications: Ron Searles 1. After some discussion, Dale Kuivanen made a motion to approve purchase of new webcam for $250 from Brandon Yuchacz of Black Bear Appliance & Computer Repair. Ron Searles seconded the motion. All were in favor. Other Business: 1. Thank you was extended to Dick Armstrong for donating his $100 bonus to Multi-Use trails fund. 2. Dale Kuivanen reported that GAG will pay $100 per month for rent of Groomer Garage. Capital improvements need to be worked out between GAG and chamber. Next meeting: Monday, Feb 11, 5:30pm (EST) at Bergland Township Hall Dick Armstrong motioned to adjourn the meeting. Ron Searles seconded the motion. All in favor. Respectfully Submitted Mary Lou
